The Young Home

A sweeping driveway and double columned entry invite you into the Floridian/Mediterranean style home of Paul and Kay Young. One of six homes on this year's Newcomers/Longtimers 14th Annual Home Tour, this 5 bedroom/8 bath home was originally built for Bob Jones, a well known St. Louis builder. The Youngs, also from St. Louis, made this their 9,800 sq. ft. lake retreat in 2004.

Entering the bright, spacious living room, large windows offer views of the lake and the 13th green of the Porto Cima Country Club. A huge framed mirror over the fireplace mantel and unique ceiling fan accent this room. Most of the distinctive furnishings for the home were provided by local designers in tropical motifs.

A main level master bedroom features double crown molding and a master bath with an oversized walk-in shower and elevated spa. Down the hall the open kitchen has rich maple finished cabinets, blonde maple flooring and Thermador and Wolf appliances. A10 seat rectangular mission style table offers plenty of seating for family and friends.

The upper level, of this three level home, offers three large guest bedrooms with baths and a large seating area for relaxation. On the lower level, a family room with a second fireplace, coffered ceiling and billiards table make a perfect gathering area. Outside, a beautiful patio, in-ground pool and boat deck to complete the perfect lake retreat.

This year's Home Tour will be Saturday May 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance tickets are available for $20 at area outlets or call Terry at 302-4527 or Lana at 365-2959. The day of the Tour, tickets may also be purchased for $25 at Tour Headquarters, Village Station, on Highway MM, in Sunrise Beach. All proceeds benefit local charities, and the Newcomers/Longtimers Scholarship Fund. For additional information visit: www.newcomerslongtimers.com.
