At the January business luncheon of Newcomers/Longtimers, Carole Olivarri, Immediate Past President, awarded nine scholarships to local students who were selected from over 15 applicants. The winners were selected through an interview process and granted scholarships based upon need, grades and the interviews. Recipients from the nursing program at Columbia College were Timberly Ginnings and Lia Hummel. From the nursing program at Eldon Career Center winners were Veronica Alcantar, Elizabeth Bushby and Jessica Morrison. Technical scholarships were given in the Marine Engine Division of the Lake Career and Technical Center to Brad Bussell, Tad Buxton, Michael Hayden and Richard Tallmadge. Julia Wilson led the Scholarship Committee as Chairman. Participating on the committee were Analee Hodge, Jan McKeon-Day, Janet Mills, and Lin Vance. The scholarship fund is financed by the annual Home Tour proceeds and raffles held throughout the year at Newcomers/Longtimers events.
