The monthly Newcomers/Longtimers Community Committee Meeting was held at the Osage Beach City Hall so
that members could view a demonstration of K-9 Police Dogs Henry and A.J. under the direction of Missouri
State Water Patrol Sergeant Randy Henry, Osage Beach Police Corporal Adam Benjamin and Missouri State
Water Patrolman Eric Mueller.

Certified for aggression, K-9 Officer Henry demonstrated the dual personality of the K-9 Unit police dogs.  One
moment he was attacking “bad guy” Water Patrolman Mueller, and the next he was playing a game of tug-of-war
with a N/L Member.

K-9 Officer A.J., certified for narcotics detection, impressed everyone with how quickly he could screen a parking
lot filled with vehicles to find the one that had narcotics hidden inside.  Afterwards, A.J. was given his ball for a
reward and he brought it to a N/L member for a game of fetch.

Both dogs are with their handlers 24/7 and live with the officers’ families when not on duty.  For more information
on Henry and how to be a sponsor, please contact Water Patrol Sergeant Randy Henry at 573-751-3333.  For
more information on A.J., please contact Osage Beach Police Corporal Adam Benjamin at 302-2010

The next N/L Community Committee Meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 7th, 10:00 a.m. at Central
Bank (across from Stone Crest Mall) in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.  There will be a presentation by the
Columbia College Nursing Program.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  For more information, please contact
Carole Olivarri at 348-4482 or visit www.newcomerslongtimers.com.
