The Community Committee presented the 2009 Community Pride Awards at the November Luncheon Meeting
of the Newcomers/Longtimers Club. The Community Pride Award has been given out to Lake area businesses
for more than 13 years now.  The nominees are submitted by the general membership.  The Community Pride
Award Committee is a sub-committee of the Community Committee.  The Committee consisted of Suzi Layden
(Chairperson), Lee Baumgartner, Jody Greenway, Jerry Hammond and Georgann Stockton.

The Community Pride Award Committee spent an entire day, traveling to Camdenton through Lake Ozark &
Osage Beach to review and preview all of the nominees.

The criteria used for judging included:

•Overall Appearance – positive contribution, structural conformation to area and purpose, appropriate colors and
textures.
•Maintenance – general state of repair, clean and uncluttered
•Surroundings Including Parking Area – safe and accessible, signs useful and limited to need, clean and neat.

The Small Business Community Pride Award was presented to Camdenton Farm & Garden Center located on
South Hwy. 5.  Owner, Brenda Ledbetter, said she was “humbled and honored” to receive the Award.

The Big Business Community Pride Award was presented to Osage National Golf Resort for the 2nd year in a
row.  Susie Leveridge, Food & Beverage Director for the Resort, accepted the award.  Susie invited everyone to
come and see the gorgeous landscaping and pool and dine in the Club House.

The Commercial (funded by private endowment and/or tax dollars) Community Pride Award was presented to
Missouri Association Management, LLC for the breathtaking entrance to The Villages at Shawnee Bend located
on MM in Sunrise Beach.  Ms. Della Miller accepted the award.

The Commercial (all Volunteer) Community Pride Award was presented to the Chamber Active Volunteer
Committee for the awesome new “Wedge Garden” in Lake Ozark between Hwy 54 and Business 54
intersection.  Many volunteers, some of which may be in their late 70’s, put in a ton of blood, sweat and
tears…not to mention danger from oncoming traffic…to build this beautiful new garden.  Ms. Katie Pile accepted
the award on behalf of all the wonderful volunteers.

The Lake Legacy Award, which has only been awarded twice before, was presented to Tan-tar-a Resort, located
on KK in Osage Beach, in recognition of over a quarter century of dedication to the beautification of the Lake
area.  Tan-tar-a has 420 acres of lovely gardens, golf courses and buildings.  Tan-tar-a continues to be one of
the most beautiful locations in the Lake area.  Fred Dehner, General Manager, graciously accepted the award.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for your great efforts to enhance the Lake area.
