The Mueller Home on Chimney Cove

Located on Chimney Cove, the home of Bob and Doreda Mueller is one of six homes on the Newcomers/Longtimers Fourteenth Annual Home Tour. Purchased in 2005, the Mueller family fell in love with the home's Neo-classical architectural details and décor. The open living room features light furniture and carpeting, large windows facing the cove and a white marble fireplace. In contrast, a black baby grand piano becomes the focal point of the room. Down the hall the master suite is home to a unique Grecian floor lamp, a gift from Doreda's parents.

One might think this an unusual setting for a family with three teenaged sons, but not in this case. Devin, 19, Camden, 17, and Jordan, 15, have each had a hand in designing their own bedrooms.

Devin's room has a Safari look with a bamboo accented bed, palm ceiling fan and "elephant skin" textured wallpaper. Camden's room features wall and ceiling designs in a Tropical Jazz theme. The leather chairs are replicas of those found in Walt Disney's office. Sports are the center of attraction in Jordan's room. A painting of Nolan Ryan and autographed picture of Ray Lewis are among the collected memorabilia around a room papered in stripes of wrinkled and painted parchment paper.

The lower level also includes a den with Western and Indian décor, a kitchen/bar area and comfortable family room highlighted by a family portrait above a wood burning fireplace.

This year's Home Tour will be Saturday May 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance tickets are available for $20 at many area outlets or call Terry at 302-4527 or Lana at 365-2959.
