The Community Committee, a sub committee of Newcomers/Longtimers, has been collecting cuddly animals to give to local first responders. Police, firefighters, and paramedics often encounter children who have been traumatized by an accident, fire, or the occasional arrest of a parent.

Each year the Community Committee decides on a project to improve, or assist the community. This year chairperson Carlene Chubbuck asked for suggestions from committee members, and the cuddly animal collection was born.

Members of Newcomers/Longtimers bring their fuzzy donations to the monthly meetings; the animals are then distributed to local law enforcement agencies. Last month Carlene Chubbuck and member Lynda Hartwick distributed animals to Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, and Linn Creek police departments.
